Letter To Landbridge

Fountain Pen and Lined paper: Opening salutation 'Dear'

Letter sent to the Landbridge Corp with our offer to solve this problem. We would appreciate it being distributed widely, we feel that the offer is a compromise that would demonstrate that Landbridge has some respect for us as Australians and would go a long way to avoiding what could develop into an unfortunate situation by a foreign owned company.

Dear sir,

I represent a group whose interest is in saving and preserving the ship you know as the MV Rushcutter which sank at her moorings in the small ships harbour on the 19th October.

This ship is actually HMAS HDML 1321, a vessel with a significant war history which should be saved.

We had started a fund before she sank, intending to purchase her, restore her to her WWII configuration and present her to a museum or city as a dry land exhibit and memorial to the seven Z force commandos that were tortured and murdered by Japanese soldiers after they had landed from her on Muschu island.

Since we learned of HDML1321’s sinking our attention has been in trying to raise sufficient funds to salvage her then move her to a hardstand where we can safely leave her until we can raise sufficient funds for restoration.

We are confident that we will realise our target, however this is going to take time.

If you would support us by raising her gently and getting her to a site where she will be safe until we complete raising the funds we would be extremely grateful.

We are prepared to reimburse you for any reasonable amount to cover the cost of you doing this for us.

Unfortunately, we are not in a position to guarantee this payment, obviously, it depends on us raising sufficient funds via our public appeal, however we assure you that when funds are available we will refund you as soon as we can or enter into a time payment arrangement. (for example paying monthly as donations accrue)

If you agree to this we would appreciate you giving us an estimated cost of refloating the ship, lifting her out of the water and moving her to a safe place on dry land and the cost of renting this space on a monthly basis. This would give us a primary target to aim for.

Yours sincerely

Bro Palmer
