Harbour Defence Motor Launch 1321 (HDML 1321) is known for her extraordinary service during WW2 behind enemy lines with Z Special Forces. During the 1950's HDML 1321 was used as a training ship and renamed Rushcutter. In 1971 she was sold to a private owner. HDML 1321 sank at her moorings in Darwin Harbour at 7.55am 19 October 2016 and efforts to save her for future generations is underway.

Salvage - Progress Report 8 November

Fountain Pen and Lined paper: Opening salutation 'Dear'

Work continues. The salvage team is taking great care to ensure that HDML 1321 survives the lift with minimal damage.

Update as at 8AM, divers have been on site this morning and continue to inflate bags to lift the vessel. A constant adjustment of slings to balance the vessel during the lift continues to be ongoing. This is to reduce the potential for damage to the vessel.

Discussion indicate that it is unlikely that the vessel will surface before lunch and more likely mid afternoon. The underwater visibility is the best it has been today which will assist the divers.

Will keep you updated.
Cheers
Terry O’Connor I Chief Executive Officer (Darwin Port)
